A dialogue, as created by Dan and Steve.
Jaco Pastorius and Wayne Shorter during a Weather Report jam session
Jaco: So, I really think we should write a song named "The Chicken", but it shouldn't be funky at all.
Wayne: Allright man, well what do you got?
Jaco plays B-C-D, B-C-D-G progression
Jaco: I kind of like that riff, but I can't really keep the funk out of it.
Wayne: And really, man, I don't know if that's so much of a "The Chicken" material. I mean, I'm still thinking "bird" when I hear that, but I don't know if we really want to get that specific about it.
Jaco: Right on, right on.

Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Paul Chambers, John Coltrane, 'Cannonball' Adderly, and Jimmy Cobb discuss the titles for A Kind of Blue, Miles' upcoming album
Miles: I really like that first groove we played man, you guys have any ideas on a name for it?
Bill: I don't know, are we going to keep that track? It's only got two chords.
Paul: So what? I finally get to play melody.
John: People will get bored.
Paul: So what? It's jazz.
'Cannonball': Flamenco Sketches!
Miles: What?
'Cannonball': We should call a song Flamenco Sketches!
Jimmy: Cannonball, that's retarded.
'Cannonball': So what?
Paul: That's what I said.
Miles: Cool. So What. What about the next one?
John: Well I was getting a pretty strong sense of the blues, of the color blue. Almost as if all the blues were coming out of the song.
Paul: How about A Few Blues?
Miles: That's pretty weak. Maybe 9 or 10 Blues?
Jimmy: I don't think there are that many blues.
'Cannonball': Flamenco Sketches!
Miles: Shut up, Adderly. I think we better just call it All Blues
ALL: Yeah, man, right on, right on.
Miles: Allright this next one needs to have...
'Cannonball': Flamenco Sketches!
Miles: ...fine.
'Cannonball': Whoo!
Miles: So what about the album title?
John: I thought we were going to say it was something blue, or blue something.
Miles: Well not if all the blues are on track 3...
ALL: Oh yeah...shit.
'Cannonball': Well...it's still a kind of blue, right?
Jimmy: Adderly, if you don't--
'Cannonball': No, wait a second. Even if all the blues are on track 3, SOME would leak through onto the album cover, right?
Miles: I mean we're all pretty wigged out on acid right now anyway, so...sure.
'Cannonball': Then the cover would end up being a KIND of blue?
Miles: Sure, fine. A Kind of Blue.
'Cannonball': Whoo!
Jimmy: Shut up, Adderly.
